We manufacture welded 310 stainless steel tube from 6mm to 63.5mm OD, 0.4mm to 2mm wall thickness, to ASTM A249 and A213 standards. With 24-26% chromium and 19-22% nickel — significantly higher than 304 or 316 — 310 offers excellent resistance to oxidation and scaling at sustained high temperatures, making it a standard choice for heating elements and furnace components.

310 vs Incoloy 800 — which do you need?

310Incoloy 800
BaseStainless steel (Fe-Cr-Ni)Nickel-iron-chromium alloy
Best forHigh-temperature oxidation resistance, general high-heat serviceHigher resistance to oxidation, carburization, and corrosive atmospheres
CostGenerally more economicalGenerally higher, reflecting nickel content

In short: 310 is a strong, more economical choice for most high-temperature applications; Incoloy is typically stepped up to for more demanding combinations of heat and corrosive/carburizing atmosphere. See our Heating Elements page for guidance specific to your application.

Common questions.

What is 310 stainless steel tube used for?
310's high chromium-nickel content gives it strong oxidation resistance at sustained high temperatures, making it a standard choice for furnace components, heat treatment equipment, and heating elements.
What temperature can 310 stainless steel handle?
310 is typically rated for continuous service to approximately 1035°C and intermittent exposure to approximately 1150°C, though the right limit for your specific application depends on atmosphere and duty cycle.
